Xiaomi Redmi 9C Camera Review

8

If you’re looking for a budget smartphone, the Redmi 9c is an excellent choice. It offers power, a capable primary camera, and an impressive battery life.

The Redmi 9c has a triple-rear camera setup consisting of 13MP + 2MP macro + 2MP depth sensors. It also has a 5MP selfie shooter.

Camera

The Redmi 9C has a 13MP f/2.2 primary camera, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor. It’s a triple-lens setup, a significant improvement over the single-rear shooter on the Redmi 9.

The photos are clear, with natural color rendering and brightness, and details remain distinct even when zoomed in. The downside is that blues are too light, and greens slip towards yellow, which can be easily fixed in post-processing.

It is also good that the camera is equipped with a pro mode allowing you to manually control the ISO, white balance, and other settings. Although it is a bit slow, it also works well enough in Portrait mode.

In low light, the phone is a struggle, as the primary camera at the back struggles to take in and maintain the detail of the subject in the image, and the LED flash fails to help much. It does manage to deliver decent photos, but it’s a shame that it can’t capture stunning shots at night.

The Redmi 9c has a triple camera setup at the rear consisting of a 13MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. This camera configuration is an excellent addition to the budget smartphone market, allowing users to take more detailed photos.

The images taken by the rear camera are precise, natural-looking, and well-composed. Even when zoomed in, the details remain clear and distinct.

However, I was disappointed that the Redmi 9c doesn’t support image stabilization. This would have helped reduce shaky video.

The front camera on the Redmi 9c is an 8MP shooter with a portrait mode that works well with face detection. It’s not as good as portrait mode on the rear camera, but it still performs well.

Storage

The Redmi 9c is the cheapest flagship from Xiaomi but it does not skimp on the hardware. The octo-core MediaTek Helio G35 CPU powers the device with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The handset has a 6.53-inch HD+ dot-drop display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1440 pixels. Interestingly, the screen has blue-light protection certification for a more comfortable viewing experience in low-light conditions.

The Redmi 9c is a well-rounded smartphone that can quickly handle your everyday tasks. Its camera is the best in this class, and the 2MP macro camera is undoubtedly a nice touch. Taking selfies is also more accessible than you might think, thanks to a nifty feature called the palm shutter, which shows your hand to the camera to let it know what position to focus on. It also has 3GB of RAM and a 5000mAh (typ) battery.

Battery

It’s a well-known fact that battery capacity is one of the most critical features of any smartphone. The Redmi 9c delivers on this with its 5000 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery.

Its capacity means you can listen to 167 hours of music, 32 hours of calls, 10 hours of gaming, and 21 hours of video playback on one charge. It also supports fast charging so that it can be fully charged in a few minutes.

The camera is decent and works well under low-light conditions. However, you should be aware that the front camera’s portrait mode isn’t as good as the rear’s, and doesn’t have a depth sensor.

Despite this, the phone offers a good front camera that produces crisp selfies in most lighting scenarios. It also has a palm shutter mode that triggers a timer when a hand is detected in the frame.
